The continuing education platform that changed how personalized learning is delivered

PUCPR (Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná) is a private, community-based, nonprofit university founded in 1959, with more than six decades of experience in higher education. It operates primarily in undergraduate and graduate education, extension, research and innovation across different learning formats. It is recognized nationally and internationally for academic quality. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, it was ranked the best private university in Paraná and the third-best private university in Brazil.
The Challenge
The way professionals learn throughout their careers is changing. Undergraduate, graduate, master's and doctoral programs remain relevant, but they no longer account for all demand for professional development. People increasingly seek shorter, practical continuing education experiences connected to their needs at each stage of their careers.
For universities, this creates a new challenge: how to remain relevant in students' professional journeys after traditional education and turn a relationship that once ended with a course into a long-term connection.

The Solution
PUCPR saw an opportunity to build a new continuing education platform that could combine content, experiences and personalization across different areas of knowledge.
Medicine was chosen as the first niche to validate this vision. Professionals in this market need constant updates but have little time to study. A large content catalog alone was not enough. The experience needed to understand interests, specialty, career stage and consumption history to deliver relevance at scale.
PUCPR owned the product vision and content authority. Radhark led the technology work and built the Carreira Médica platform from scratch for web and mobile on Google Cloud.
The main product decision was not to build another traditional LMS. The platform was created as an LXP—a Learning Experience Platform—placing each user's professional journey and experience at its center.
From launch, the experience went beyond offering a course catalog. Each physician could have an individual development plan created by PUCPR's concierge team around their goals and career stage. The technology organized content, experiences, events and other opportunities within that journey.
This model validated a central premise: different professionals need different journeys. As the platform evolved, data and AI began supporting some of this intelligence, expanding personalization without relying exclusively on individual curation.
The architecture was designed from the outset to extend beyond medicine. It provides a technology foundation for different continuing education verticals within PUCPR, with Carreira Médica as the first launch and validation niche.
The entire platform runs in the cloud, using Cloud Run, AlloyDB, BigQuery, Looker and Gemini to support the application, data layer and intelligent experiences added as the product evolves.
The Result
The first version was built and delivered from scratch in six months, allowing PUCPR to launch a new continuing education experience initially aimed at the medical market.
With Carreira Médica, the university expanded its national presence and strengthened its position in digital innovation in medical education, while creating a new way to maintain relationships with professionals throughout their careers.
Users highlighted the project's central goals: ease of use and content relevant to each physician's professional stage.
The product continued to evolve after launch. Radhark's squad continues to work with PUCPR, and the platform now offers subscription plans, automatic certification, an AI-supported concierge and a foundation ready for new niches beyond medicine.
Beyond delivering a platform for one segment, the project established a foundation for PUCPR to explore a new model of continuing education and relationships with students throughout their professional lives.
