FTD Educação

FTD Educação is the educational solutions division of Grupo Marista, one of Brazil's largest education groups, with more than 80 years of experience. It produces educational content, digital platforms and educational innovation solutions for public and private school systems across Brazil. It is recognized for the educational quality of its materials and its ability to turn education challenges into innovative solutions. Grupo Marista's mission is to create positive social impact through education, helping build a fairer, more inclusive society that turns potential into achievement.

The Challenge

Structured reading fluency assessment at scale is a complex challenge in public education. Teachers work daily with students at different reading levels, while administrators must make curriculum and resource allocation decisions without objective proficiency data. Assessing each child individually takes time, expertise and a consistent methodology, making it difficult to scale across hundreds of schools and thousands of students simultaneously.

FTD needed structured, reliable assessment without relying on manual evaluation. The more precise and individualized a fluency assessment is, the more teacher time it requires. As scale grows, less time is available unless technology takes on assessment while teachers focus on instruction.

The Solution

FTD Educação retained full educational authority over Flui's design, defining fluency criteria, proficiency levels, assessment protocols and learning recovery guides that support classroom work. Radhark took responsibility for Flui's end-to-end technical architecture, from capturing reading audio to generating reports and dashboards for teachers and administrators.

The solution fully automated fluency assessment using generative AI. Students complete timed readings at different difficulty levels, with audio recording. The AI model analyzes each recording and calculates accuracy, speed and comprehension metrics, producing an automated, individualized assessment of each child's proficiency. Reports are organized by student, class and school, with specific educational recommendations for intervention. The platform runs entirely on Google Cloud, using Gemini API, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL and Cloud Storage for scalability and reliability.

The Result

Flui transformed reading fluency assessment from an isolated performance measure into a continuous cycle of assessment, intervention, monitoring and learning recovery. Teachers and administrators gained objective data to identify gaps, track each student's progress and guide more precise interventions. Reports, together with learning recovery guides, help organize strategies, activities and groupings suited to students' actual needs, supporting more personalized teaching and more effective instruction.

For FTD, the impact was twofold: it enabled a differentiated educational solution and reinforced its position as a partner in public education transformation. Flui became a concrete expression of the Marista mission to create positive social impact through education.
